good life
  A Long Time Ago...

Moore Center Services hails back to 1955, when several families began a group supporting each other. Each family had at least one loved one challenged with a developmental disability, and as the current service system didn't exist, these grassroots groups largely looked out for one another.

In 1982, things began to change. New Hampshire led the country in its reassessement of services for the developmentally disabled, beginning the process of closing its state-run institutions and moving into a community-based service approach. This process was lengthy; it took about a decade to completely make the shift. A major part of the new initiative was the creation of the Area Agency system.

New Hampshire was carved up into separate regions, and organizations were tasked to be the Area Agency, or the organization designated to coordinate services for the individuals with developmental disabilities that fell within the borders of the region. Moore Center Services became the Area Agency for Region 7: Greater Manchester.

Through the years, our agency has evolved with the needs of the community. We've added new services, expanded departments, and have grown to match the ever-increasing client base. We are proud of our past, and always look to apply the principles found in our humble beginnings--compassion, commitment, and community--to our contemporary means of service.
