Tootsie Roll Drive Nets $1,500 for Moore Center

Thanks again to the efforts of the Hooksett Knights of Columbus, their annual Tootsie Roll Drive raised $1,558.71 for Moore Center Services. This is one of the organization's biggest fundraisers and they have partnered with Moore Center for the past few years.

The Drive is simple, but effective: Knights of Columbus volunteers greet passers-by at local businesses and exchange Tootsie Rolls for donations. At the last Knights meeting, Vice President of Development Ellen Roposa accepted the check on behalf of Moore Center.

Moore Center and Saint Anselm Team Up for Field Day!

From Saturday's New Hampshire Union Leader:

St. Anselm College student Ashley Pratt of Manchester (right) cheers on the base runner in a game of kickball at Friday's field day outing for clients of the Moore Center, hosted by students of the college at Livingston Park. The event is the community service part of the freshman orientation program taking place this weekend. All 560 incoming freshmen are participating in the service program in groups of 20 students at 30 sites around the city.

The program is designed to enable the freshmen to get to know one another and become involved in the school's tradition of community service. More than 50 percent of the Class of 2010 had performed community service over the course of their years at St. Anselm College.

ANCOR is on Facebook! Become a fan!

ANCOR is currently working to grow our network of advocates and build a base of support for the work we're doing in Washington to raise awareness of DSPs, the value of the critical supports they provide, and to highlight the difference this workforce makes each day in lives of millions of Americans with disabilities.

One way ANCOR is growing is through Facebook. They've created a fan page as a means to better communicate with our supporters and share information on what's happening with the National Advocacy Campaign.

If you are active on Facebook, please consider "liking" the NAC page. Check it out here.
