Immediate Opening: Direct Support Professionals for Staffed Home
The Moore Center is hiring four female Direct Support Professionals to staff a new program that offers alternative residential options for women. This newly renovated independent-living home, located in Manchester, NH, is focused on person-centered planning and fosters the highest degree of independence possible.
There will be three residents, two of whom are currently in place. Both women are very high functioning with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and are looking forward to meeting their new staff and learning from the skills they bring. Here’s a bit about them: Sharon plays clarinet and has a pet bird. Sarah works in a hospital environment and loves her job, and also likes to travel and spend time with her family. (The families of the residents will remain actively involved in supporting their loved ones.)
This is a rewarding position that will enable you to make a significant difference in the lives of these women. In general, they may need assistance in developing skills in areas such as:
- Navigating public transportation
- Budgeting, banking, and general financial assistance
- Pursuing volunteer opportunities (food banks, animal shelters, etc.)
- Cooking/meal prep
- Navigating social relationships and learning how to live with other people
- Caring for their residence
The home will be staffed 24/7 at a ratio of 1 staff to 3 residents. The Moore Center will provide training to certify staff in Medication Administration, CPR, and First Aid, as well as cross training to work in other departments. At the residents’ request, we’re hiring female staff only. The rate of pay is $16 to $18 per hour, with overtime available. All shifts are available, and all positions require some weekend coverage.
The home is newly renovated and has a 4-season porch, as well as space for group activities, gardening, etc. In addition to participating in activities and skills development, the staff may organize things such as day trips, dinners, etc.
