Nick Hebert is very ambitious – especially when it comes to his vending machine business. He loves talking snacks and he knows his stuff!
Nick was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome at a young age. With lots of hard work, determination and a strong circle of support, he’s come a long way and is enjoying a good life running his own business.
After graduating from high school Nick began participating in The Moore Center’s day program, where he was given the opportunity to stock The Moore Center’s vending machines. He really enjoyed this job and was very conscientious about making sure the machines were always stocked with things that people liked.
After several years of stocking the vending machines, Nick was presented with the opportunity to apply for a small grant to start a business, and of course he wanted to start a vending machine business. He applied for the grant and he won, so Nick Hebert Vending, LLC was formed.
Nick used the grant to set up his business and buy his first two machines at The Moore Center. Today, Nick has 9 machines at seven different locations (see them here), and he’s ready for more – Nick currently has 2 machines in need of a home!
Nick has worked hard and has overcome many obstacles to get to where he is today. He’s also blessed with many skills that have helped make him a successful entrepreneur – he has a super positive attitude, a wonderful outgoing personality, a great ability to communicate, and he loves negotiating. He uses these skills every day in making things happen for his business.
One of Nick’s favorite clients is CGI Business Solutions in Hooksett. Dan Cronin, CGI’s President says, “Nick is a natural entrepreneur. He does an excellent job of keeping our machines stocked with things people like, and I especially enjoy our little conversations about which snacks sell best with my employees.”
Being in the supportive and encouraging environment that The Moore Center provides has also been important to his success. Our staff provides support in many ways and works closely with Nick to help him get around to his different locations to make sure that when someone wants a snack or a drink, it’s there waiting for them in one of his machines.
