We’re very proud of the important work we are doing with the Manchester NH Police to collaborate on a year-long training project focusing on police interaction with people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

The initial ‘Train the Trainer’ session is complete, and we’ll be providing additional support as they apply the knowledge in the development of practical actions that lead to increased sensitivity and de-escalation techniques, among other things.

Now these officers will be able to go on and train others in the department as well. The hope is that this will give officers a better understanding of autism, the challenges it presents, and ultimately help them to interact with autistic people in a more positive way.
